2010 Season - Final Results -

The 2010 wrestling season was a HUGE success for the Eagles. Our final record was 30 – 2. Our 2 losses came to #4 Brandon, FL by 10 points; and to the #1 (at the time) Blair Academy, NJ by 3 points. The Eagles were Champions of the Walton Duals, Cleveland Duals (TN), Toshiba Midwest Classic, Region 7 AAAAA Duals, AAAAA State Duals, Region 7 AAAAA Traditional Tournament, and the AAAAA State Traditional Tournament. We were Runners up in the very tough PowerAde Invitational Tournament in PA, and 3rd Place at the NHSCA Final Four in PA. With 12 State Placers (6 Champions, 2 Third Place, 1 Fourth Place, and 3 Fifth Place) the Eagles cemented the claim of the Best Team in Georgia History. Drew Ferguson won the NHSCA Sophomore National Championship, and TJ Mitchell won the NHSCA Senior National Championship, while Joel Smith took home second place, and Devante Brown captured the 7 place award at the NHSCA Senior Nationals. Our continued improvement and hard work paid off on a national scale. We improved our National Ranking from Amateur Wrestling News from preseason #21 to a #9 ranking at the season’s end! Excellent work Eagles!!

Toshiba Midwest Classic Champions!!! -

The Eagles placed first at the Toshiba Midwest Classic in Kansas City, MO. The team performed well defeated #14 ranked Park Hill (MO) by over 100 points. Joel Smith and Jamie Hertica placed 1st; TJ Mitchell placed 2nd; Bazell Partridge placed 3rd; Joseph Doyague, CJ Collins, and Thomas Delain placed 4th; Drew Ferguson and Devante Brown placed 5th; Mac Bennett placed 7th; Allen Willard placed 9th; and Pat Riley placed 14th.

Christmas Motor Bike Drawing -

Walton Duals -
12/7/2009
The Eagles dominated the field at the Walton Duals on December 5. The team did not lose a match in the first 4 duals and defeated Pope, 38-14. Pope is currently ranked 2nd in the state.

Super 32 -
10/26/2009
The Eagles performed very well at the Super 32 Challenge held on October 24 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Three wrestlers placed in the top 8. Joel Smith placed 4th at 140lbs, TJ Mitchell placed 5th at 125lbs., and CJ Collins placed 7th at 215lbs. Two other wrestlers came very close to placing. Drew Ferguson went 4-2 at 103lbs. and Devante Brown also went 4-2 at 130lbs. Other Collins Hill wrestlers in the tournament were Anthony Codella, Bruno Rezende, Jamie Hertica, Josiah Connell, Matthew Connell, Pat Riley, Michael Spikes, Nick Holbert, and Thomas Delain.

Strong Showing at Disney Duals -

Collins Hill took 3rd place at the Disney Duals this past week.
The Eagles entered the Community Division which contained 34 other teams. Teams were allowed to use 3 wrestlers not from their team as well as wrestlers who are entering their freshman year of college.
The Eagles only used CHHS wrestlers, no graduates, and finished in 3rd place, losing two close matches to the top two teams. Both of those teams had several wrestlers who were from other schools and had already graduated. Collins Hill finished with a record of 14-2 with several victories over teams from Ohio, Indiana, Florida, as well as other states.
Two of our wrestlers, Joel Smith and TJ Mitchell, went undefeated for the week, while Allen Willard only lost one match.

Amateur Wrestling News moves Eagles UP!... -

AWN has the Eagles ranked at #20 in the nation for the final poll of the year. This is the highest ranking for any Georgia team ever.

EAGLES DEFEND STATE TITLE!! -

The Eagles became the first 5A wrestling team in the 2000`s to defend a state wrestling title. The team finished with 12 placers and 6 state finalist.

Eagles send 13 to State Tournament! -

The Eagles qualified 13 wrestlers in the Georgia East Sectional for the State Tournament. Eagles getting first place: Bazell Partridge, TJ Mitchell, Allen Willard, Joel Smith, Gary Tiller, Taylor Knapp, and CJ Collins.

Collins Hill repeats as State Dual Champs! -

The Eagles landed in Macon this past weekend and successfully repeated as Dual State Champs to be the first AAAAA team to accomplish this. The Eagles defeated Valdosta, Newton Co, Camden Co. and Pope to win the State Championship.

The Region 7 duals were once again won by the Eagles as they now head to the Georgia State Duals in Macon next weekend.

Eagles compete well in The Clash National Duals... -

The Eagles competed in frigid Minnesota to start the New Year and finished with a 4-2 record for the weekend. The Eagles competed and provided the toughest match for Nationally ranked #6 Apple Valley, MN at the duals before falling 41-26. Joel Smith and Taylor Knapp wrestled outstanding to finish on the all-tournament team.

Eagles win Kyle Maynard Duals... -

Collins Hill beat White Knoll (S.C.) 71-3, Bremen 66-0, Effingham 65-10, Henry County 67-4 and Baylor (Tenn.) 39-19 and to improved to 17-1 for the season on Saturday. Undefeated wrestlers for Collins Hill were Joel Smith with five pins, Taylor Knapp, T.J. Mitchell and Bazell Partridge with four pins each. Also undefeated were Drew Ferguson, Caleb Sawchuck, Josiah Connell, Andrew Krawulski, Jamie Hertica, Ben Flaherty and Nick Holbert.

Eagles finish in 3rd at Toshiba Midwest Classic... -

The Collins Hill Eagles wrestling team traveled to Kansas City, MO and finished 3rd in a field of 32 which included five of the top 36 teams in the nation. Collins Hill finished with eight wrestlers in the top 7 of the tournament The Eagles had 2nd place finishes in TJ Mitchell, Joel Smith, and Taylor Knapp. Fifth place finishers were: Bazell Partridge, John Allgood, CJ Collins. Sixth place: Thomas Delain. Seventh place finisher was: Allen Willard.
